The Center for Excellence in Polling (CEP) recently surveyed likely voters in a nationwide poll. We asked voters about policy issues facing their states and our nation.
The Biden administration’s student loan cancellation program is unpopular with voters. Results indicate that this play to the Democratic base is working—nearly three-quarters of Democrats support the policy. However, nearly six in ten Independents and more than 80 percent of Republicans oppose the move to cancel student loans.
Consistent with a long history of previous survey research by CEP, Americans overwhelmingly favor work requirements as a condition of eligibility for food stamps for able-bodied adults without children. Support for food stamp work requirements comes from two out of every three voters, and the policy garners support from a large majority of voters of both political parties as well as a majority of Independents.
