The Center for Excellence in Polling recently surveyed likely Iowa voters on important issues facing the state. Results indicate that voters in the Hawkeye State support reforms that would remove barriers to work.
Work requirements and program integrity in welfare are popular
Requiring able-bodied adults on welfare to work, train, or volunteer at least part time as a condition of eligibility for welfare benefits is very popular in Iowa.

…of all likely voters, including more than half of likely Democrat voters (53%) and 67 percent of likely Independent voters, strongly or somewhat support work requirements for able-bodied adults in the Medicaid program.

…of all likely voters also strongly or somewhat support requiring able-bodied adults without young children at home to work, train, or volunteer at least part time as a condition of eligibility for food stamps.
Likely Iowa voters also want to ensure only the truly eligible are receiving welfare benefits: Majorities of voters of all surveyed parties support requiring asset tests to check eligibility for food stamps (73%) and checking eligibility more frequently and with better technology (73%).
