The Center for Excellence in Polling recently surveyed likely Pennsylvania voters on unemployment insurance (UI) programs in the state. Overall, there is broad support for reforms that would ensure program integrity and help Pennsylvanians return to the workforce.

The majority of likely Pennsylvania voters support requiring the state to confirm that an individual receiving unemployment benefits is truly looking for work (68%). A majority of voters support crosschecks of new hire records (63%), death records (75%), and incarceration records (79%) to ensure only the eligible are receiving benefits.

There is also significant support for other UI program integrity measures such as confirming an individual’s identity, with 88% of Republicans, 77% of Democrats, and 75% of Independents supporting this measure.
