Ohio Health Care, Workforce, and Education Poll

The Center for Excellence in Polling (CEP) recently surveyed likely Ohio voters on important issues in the state. Results indicate strong support for reforms that would bring more options to health care, accountability to the unemployment insurance program, and opportunity to education in the state.

Ohio voters support reforms in Medicaid and health care

Likely voters in the Buckeye State support program integrity in Medicaid and more health care options.

74%     …of likely voters support checking eligibility for people on Medicaid more frequently and with better technology to help ensure those receiving benefits are still eligible, including nearly three-quarters of likely Democrats (72%).

68%     …of likely voters support requiring able-bodied adults without young children to work, train, or volunteer at least 20 hours per week as a condition of eligibility for Medicaid.

62%     …of likely voters support quickly removing people who do not qualify for Medicaid from the program.

A strong majority also support reforms that would bring more transparency to Ohio health care. Nearly 90 percent of likely voters support giving patients the ability to know the real price and actual out-of-pocket cost of non-emergency medical care at least 72 hours ahead of time. And majorities of Republicans (84%), Democrats (81%), and Independents (68%) support expanding access to non-profit health plans in Ohio.

Accountability in the unemployment insurance program is well supported

Voters also show strong support for reforms that would bring program integrity measures to Ohio’s unemployment insurance program.

Ohio voters also support increasing educational opportunities

Ohioans support allowing Ohio public school students to attend the school of their choice, even if the preferred school is a private school or in a different district (61%). In addition, voters support expanding Ohio’s Education Choice Scholarship to all K-12 students in the state (64%).
