Ohio cares deeply about its elections.
That’s the key takeaway from a new survey by the Center for Excellence in Polling (CEP) of likely Ohio voters on several top-of-mind election issues, including election and ballot initiative integrity and the timing of local school board elections. Broad support for election integrity reforms was found across party lines, throughout the state, and on multiple election-related issues.
Ohio wants school board elections in held alongside general elections
CEP found strong support across party lines (83% of Republicans; ) for local school board elections taking place at the same time as general elections, rather during off-cycle elections when voter turnout is lower.

Ohio supports a 60 percent standard for ballot initiatives
Ohio currently allows constitutional amendments to be placed on the ballot and requires only a simple majority for passage. Seven in 10 likely voters support requiring 60 percent of voters to approve constitutional amendments before they can go into effect. This reform has strong support across party lines (85% of Republicans; 58% of Independents; 64% of Democrats).

Requiring absentee ballots to be received by the time polls close can lead to speedier, more confident election results. Changing the deadline for absentee ballots to Election Day is supported by a majority of voters across party lines (85% of Republicans; 63% of Independents; 58% of Democrats).
