The Center for Excellence in Polling recently surveyed Americans to gauge their opinions on the extension of the COVID-19 public health emergency.
A majority of likely American voters believe the planned renewal of the public health emergency in October is based more on politics (52%) than on science (35%). A majority of Independents (53%) and even one-quarter of likely Democrat voters agree the move, which comes just weeks before the midterm elections, is a political one.
Further, most voters of all political parties surveyed feel safe going about their daily activities now that the CDC has dropped its six-foot social distancing requirement (77%), including majorities of Republicans (87%), Democrats (67%), and Independents (78%).
