The Center for Excellence in Polling recently surveyed likely voters nationwide on important issues facing the country and their top concerns.
Among likely Republican (38%), Democrat (26%), and Independent voters (27%), inflation and the economy are considered the most important national issues. In terms of top state issues, crime and public safety (23%) ranked first among all likely voters, followed by jobs (20%).
Likely voters indicated their degree of concern with various challenges facing the nation:
92%
…of likely voters say they are very or somewhat concerned about the high cost of groceries.
91%
…of likely voters say they are very or somewhat concerned about crime rates.
88%
…say they are very or somewhat concerned about the high cost of gas and diesel fuel.
83%
…say they are very or somewhat concerned about the high cost of housing.
81%
…say they are very or somewhat concerned about the federal debt.
75%
…say they are very or somewhat concerned about the security of elections in America.
68%
…say they are very or somewhat concerned about the fact that there are currently 11 million open jobs in America.
Bottom line: Inflation is a top concern
Americans are most concerned about the higher costs they face when paying for everyday, essential items—inflation that, according to previous CEP surveys, voters say is driven by out-of-control government spending.
